Technical Service Bulletin

September 4, 2007

Federal Register / / Friday, August 17, 2007 / Rules and Regulations

The official notice from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) dated August 17, 2007, listed in the Federal Register Vol. 72, No. 159, covers the legislation concerning business operations, including vending machines and their compliance to accept and dispense $1 coin. Under this legislation ALL vending machines operated on any premises owned by the United States or under the control of any agency or instrumentality of the United States must be compliant by January 1, 2008. An official copy of the legislative ruling can be found by logging into the following site: http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/01jan20071800/edocket.access.gpo.gov/2007/pdf/07-3804.pdf

Summary: Nearly all vending machine coin changers manufactured and sold for the past 10 years have the ability to validate the $1 coin, but only a very few have been manufactured and sold which will also store and pay-back the $1 coin for change. By way of passage of this legislation, vending operators must upgrade their coin changers/acceptors to insure they can comply by January 1st if they operate machines in facilities which fall under the guidelines and ruling.

Solution: For those vending operators who will be affected by this legislation we recommend the Conlux – Model CCM5G.4, 5 tube MDB changer with payout tubes as follows; nickel, dime, (2) quarter, and $1.00 coins. If you already have the Conlux – model CCM5G MDB changer, but do NOT have the $1.00 coin cassette then you will need to order part number 5030004050. Cassettes are easily changed-out in seconds and absolutely no programming is required.

How to: To order Conlux changers and/or replacement cassettes, please contact your local Conlux distributor and/or authorized Conlux service center. Should you need help finding the nearest Conlux distributor or service center, please call Vendnet @ 1.877.4 CONLUX (426.6589).
